    The Consumer Protection Guidelines in the Context of Electronic Commerce contains a provision on jurisdiction and applicable law in the area of B2C transactions, which call upon its members to ensure the effective and transparent consumer of protection online when considering future modifications to their legal framework in applicable law and jurisdiction.

Regional

  1. Organization of American States (OAS). Work of the Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Jurisdiction for the CIDIP VII.

    The main mandate of the OAS’s Group of Experts was to negotiate and draft three Inter-American instruments on Consumer Protection: (1) Convention on Choice of Law concerning some Consumer Contracts; (2) Model Law on Jurisdiction and Conflict of Laws Rules for Consumer Contracts; and (3) Model Law on Monetary Redress for Consumer Transactions. The Groups of Experts initiated its work in April 2006 and concluded its mandate with a final report for the CIDIP-VII Meeting of Experts that was held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from December 2-4, 2006.
